In 1982, a rebellious teen vanished while hitchhiking in a Detroit suburb. In 1983, almost exactly one year later, another pretty brunette teenager disappeared while hitchhiking in the same neighborhood. Three years, three murdered women, three cold cases. One would become the first case in Ingham County to use DNA as evidence. One would be solved through new advancements in DNA technology decades later. And one would be solved by a team of eagle-eyed students at Michigan State University's School of Criminal Justice. But for decades, their grieving families waited for invisible strings to connect and lead to justice.

So Dead made its worldwide debut on January 8, 2019. True crime obsessed pals Jenn Carpenter and Dani Fairman wanted to share tales of true crime and the paranormal from their home state of Michigan. Together, the ladies put out 45 episodes of Mitten madness, built a solid fanbase, and hosted several sold-out live shows.

Season Two began on February 11, 2020 with a format change- Jenn took the reins as a solo act. (No, there was no drama. Yes, J & D are still friends.) Through a pandemic-ridden dumpster fire of a year, Jenn released 17 full-length episodes, seven minisodes, and an eight-episode miniseries called The Cereal Killer Chronicles. Also in 2020, the show won “Best Local Podcast” in Lansing’s Top of the Town Awards hosted by the City Pulse and Fox 47 News. Aaaand…Jenn was featured as a correspondent on an episode of ABC’s 20/20: A Tangled Web.

Season Three began February 1, 2021 with a new look, a new sound, and a new partnership. Jenn is now under contract with podcasting powerhouse Audioboom. Eighteen full-length episodes were released in 2021, and a major milestone was reached- the show hit half a million downloads over the summer, less than 75 episodes in. For the second year in a row, the show won “Best Local Podcast” in Lansing’s Top of the Town Awards hosted by the City Pulse and Fox 47 News.

Season Four began February 15, 2022 under a continued contract with Audioboom. Fifteen full-length episodes and eight minisodes were released in 2022, and the monumental milestone of ONE MILLION DOWNLOADS was reached. Jenn was given the 2022 “Voice for the Missing” award by the Missing in Michigan organization for her coverage of missing persons cases. For the third year in a row, the show won “Best Local Podcast” in Lansing’s Top of the Town Awards hosted by the City Pulse and Fox 47 News. After the season wrapped, the decision was made to change the name of the show moving forward, and So Dead became Violent Ends.

Season Five began on February 7, 2023 under a continued contract with Audioboom. Fifteen full-length episodes were released, and the milestone threshold of 100 episodes was reached. For the fourth year in a row, the show won “Best Local Podcast” in Lansing’s Top of the Town Awards hosted by the City Pulse and Fox 47 News. Following the end of season five, Violent Ends went on hiatus.

Season Six began February 1, 2026 after a 2+ year hiatus. The show rebranded once more, and is now and forever Michigan Monsters. Please visit the Michigan Monsters website for all updated content

Jenn Carpenter is a best-selling author and award-winning podcast host from Lansing, Michigan. A true crime buff and lover of all things weird, Jenn founded Demented Mitten Tours in 2016. Since then, she has crafted and retold hundreds of stories about hauntings and tragedies from her home state. Haunted Lansing, her first book through a major publishing company, was released in 2018. Her offbeat podcast So Dead debuted in 2019, as did her award-winning festival, A Festival of Oddities. In 2021, Jenn opened Deadtime Stories Books & Gifts in Lansing. The small shop dedicated to all things spooky has become a much-loved haunt, drawing visitors from all over the country. Also in 2021, Jenn released her second book, The Cereal Killer Chronicles. When she's not slangin' books or regaling the masses with her macabre tales, Jenn enjoys a quiet night at home with her house full of tarantulas. (Yes, really.)
